    Xidian University has two campuses, north campus and south campus, occupying an area of 270 hectares, with the building area of over 1,300,000 square meters. Its two libraries boast a collection of 6.14 million volumes, of which there are about 2.34 million paper documents and about 3.8 million electronic documents, 1300 journals in foreign languages, and electronic resources in Chinese and foreign languages on 45 platforms with about 120 databases, covering all the disciplines and specialties of the university. Presently, the university has more than 30,000 students of all sorts, of whom there are over 1700 doctoral candidates and  9000 master degree seeking students. It has set up 16 schools — School of Telecommunications Engineering, School of Electronic Engineering, School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Mechatronic Engineering, School of Physics and Opto-electronic Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Humanities, School of Foreign Languages, School of Software Engineering, School of Microelectronics, School of Life Science and Technology, School of Aerospace Science and Technology, School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, School of International Education, and School of Network and Continuing Education.
        Xidian University is one of the institutions of higher learning in China which earliest established the specialties of information theory, information system engineering, radar, microwave antenna, electronic-mechanical engineering, and electronic countermeasure, being the forerunner of the IT discipline of China and forming distinct characteristics and advantages of electronic and information disciplines. It has 2 national first-level key disciplines (covering 6 second-level disciplines), 1 national second-level key discipline, 33 provincial/ministerial-level key disciplines, 12 first-level disciplines with the right to award doctoral degrees, 20 first-level disciplines with the right to award master’s degrees, 9 postdoctoral programs, and 50 undergraduate specialties. In the national third-round assessment of the first-level disciplines in China, its“information and communication engineering” ranked second and its“electronic science and technology”ranked fourth.
        Xidian University has established the ideas of “people-oriented”and “teachers being the core competitive ability of a university”, and forged a well-structured contingent of teachers with an innovative spirit. At present, there are over 1900 full-time teachers, of whom 279 are advisors for doctoral candidates, 845are advisors for master degree seeking students. The university has 4 academicians, 13 dually-appointed academicians, 8 persons who have been selected into the“Thousand Talents Program” of China, 1 person who has become one of the talents of the first batch in the “Top-notch Young Talents Program”, 16 specially appointed professors and chair professors of the Cheung Kong Scholar’s Program, 5 innovative teams of the Ministry of Education, 9 recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 2 persons who have become recipients of the first batch of the Science Fund for Outstanding Youths, 4 national-grade famous teachers, 6 national-grade teaching teams, 3 chief scientists of the“973”Project, 51 New-century Outstanding Talents of the Ministry of Education, 4 winners of the China Youth Sci-tech Award, 5 mbers of theHe-Liang-He-LiScience and Technology Award, 9targets of cultivation of the national “Talents Program”, 7 winners of the Shaanxi Provincial Youth Sci-tech Award, 16 members of the Teaching Guidance Committees of the Ministry of Education, and 153 recipients of the government subsidy.
        The university constantly brings forth teaching ideas, deepens the reform in the teaching content, the curriculum system and the practice teaching, and vigorously promotes quality education, with remarkable results. Currently, it has 15 national-grade featured specialties, 13 national-grade quality courses, 3 national bases for talents training and teaching, 5 national-grade experiment teaching demonstration centers, and 3 national-grade innovation experimental areas for talents-training modes. Renowned in its talents training for features of solid theoretical foundation, outstanding engineering practice ability, and strong innovative consciousness, it has set up a “brand”in the national institutions of higher learning. In recent years, because of the high popularity rate of its undergraduates participating in extracurricular sci-tech activities, it has won over 1600 awards in provincial or national sci-tech contests. The one-time employment rate of its graduate students and that of its undergraduates always remain to be over 98% and over 96%, respectively, ranking among the first in the national institutions of higher learning. In 2006, it passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of Education, winning the “Excellent” mark. In 2012, it was elected one of the 50 institutions of higher learning in China with model experience in graduate employment.
