One of the first 45 national instruction bases of electrotechnics and electronics, the National Instruction Base of Electrotechnics and Electronics of Xidian University was authorized by the then State Education Commission (now the Ministry of Education) in Nov.1996.
In order to satisfy the demand for skilled personnel, from 1997 on, a number of new-technology equipped laboratories covering the field of electronic information technology have been successively constructed on the basis of the features of five key national disciplines on information and electronic technology at Xidian University. By coordinating the labs of Electrotechnics and Electronics, an experimental center of Electrotechnics and Electronics guiding the Instruction Base has been established.
In 2001, the National Instruction Base of Electrotechnics & Electronics of Xidian University was incorporated into “Project 211”,which guarantees the simultaneous development of fundamental theory, practice teaching and discipline construction.
In May 2004, the National Instruction Base of Electrotechnics & Electronics of Xidian University passed the assessment for the“National Instruction Base of Engineering Basic Courses”sponosred by the Ministry of Education and gained an evaluation level of “Excellence”.
In March 2006, the experimental center of Electrotechnics and Electronics attached to the Instruction Base was chosen as one of the first batch of National Demonstration Centers of Practice Teaching ”.
The Base organizes the inter-departmental course series and laboratories in four related departments for education reform and specialty development. It has 26 labs at four different levels and by June, 2006, it had engaged 115 teachers in total from the School of Telecommunications Engineering, the School of Electronic Engineering, the School of Computer Science and Technology, and the School of Electro-mechanical Engineering.
