The Publicity Department of the Party Committee is the functional department of the university’s Party Committee, which is responsible for publicity and educational work. It has 12 regular staff members and under it are set up 3 sections: Broadcasting and Television Center, Editorial Department of the school paper “Xidian University News”, and Network Ideological and Political Education Office. In addition, the university’s “Spiritual Civilization Promotion Office ” and the secretariat of the “Ideological and Political Education Association” are based in this department.
The main function of the Publicity Department is to make overall plans, closely around the Party’s line and policies, for theoretical publicity and education, news and public opinions, campus culture, and spiritual civilization promotion in the university, and to hold the correct orientation to develop publicity and mobilization so as to create an atmosphere of favorable public opinion for teaching, scientific research, and personnel training of the university. The routine work of the Publicity Department includes the following: to be responsible for publicizing and implementing the line and policies of the Party and the State, for conducting external publicity and providing news report, for publicizing and reporting internal events and activities, for conducting ideological and political education to the teachers, students, administrators and other school workers in the university, for promoting campus spiritual civilization, for publishing the school paper <<Xidian University News>>, for producing the campus TV programs and broadcasting & managing cable television programs, for offering the theoretical course <<Situation and Policy>>, for releasing various news information, for planning, constructing and supervising the campus news network, and for creating an atmosphere of internal publicity.
For many years, under the leadership of the university’s Party Committee, the Publicity Department, focusing on the university’s central tasks, maintains the correct orientation for public opinion. According to the “Three-Closeness” requirement, it has fostered the first-class standard, and tried to do the first-class work. Based on the actual effect of publicity and education, it has nurtured a strong sense of services. With “Publicizing anyone and anything of Xidian University means publicizing Xidian University” as the basic philosophy, it “conducts publicity” with meticulous care and “adorns Xidian University” in an all-dimentional way. For the sake of all work of the university, it has made great efforts to go all out and give real encouragement so as to arouse the work enthusiasm and sense of pride of the teachers, students, administrators and other school workers for the “Construction and Development of Xidian University”. It has made tireless efforts in the university’s external and internal publicity & report, theoretical education and ideological & political work.
